BALL Engineer Hydrocarbon AeroGMT Sled Driver Automatic Watch - 42mm Black Dial

Limited to 1,990 pieces, the Engineer Hydrocarbon AeroGMT Sled Driver has been designed to honor legendary US Air Force Pilot Major Brian Shul, one of only 92 pilots to fly the SR-71 Blackbird. Called “The Sled” by some pilots who flew it, the Blackbird was a long-range, high-altitude, Mach 3+ strategic reconnaissance aircraft. The dial has been emblazoned with the SR-71 planform at 6 o’clock, the legend “SLED DRIVER” above the planform and Major Brian Shul’s signature just below center dial. Moreover, the case back is engraved with the Mach 3+ insignia emblem, worn by all qualified SR-71 Blackbird crewmembers.

The Engineer Hydrocarbon AeroGMT Sled Driver is the ultimate GMT aviation watch with the world’s brightest bezel. BALL brings instant low-light visibility to a new level thanks to a ground-breaking micro gas light rotating bezel. The watch is equipped with a bi-color top sapphire bidirectional rotating bezel which carries a 24-hour graduation, and marks out a third time-zone in addition to its standard and GMT time zones.

The aviator-inspired face has hour indexes and main hands carrying luminous gas tubes, with the 3, 6 and 9 o’clock markings receiving double gas tubes. A ring of transparent and ultra-resistant sapphire crystal covers the base of the bezel in which micro gas tubes are embedded.

This timepiece also carries on with BALL’s signature toughness and can absorb impacts of up to 7,500Gs, and features an anti-magnetic resistance of 4,800 A/m. The 42mm machined stainless steel case is equipped with the BALL patented crown-protection system to ensure a sealed-system. At the heart of the watch beats a Swiss-made BALL RR1201-C automatic mechanical movement which is COSC chronometer certified. The metal bracelet is fitted with the BALL exclusive patented triple folding buckle.
